NOTE: The downloadable form below is an application for the HPS program only. You will also need to complete a separate online admissions application which is required by the Florida State University. Please read all of the information below before completing this application.

MINIMUM ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Admission requirements to the History & Philosophy of Science Master's program requires that a student must have:

  • A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university
  • A grade point average of at least 3.3 on a 4.0 scale as an upper-division undergraduate and
  • A minimum score of 1100 on the combined verbal and quantitative portions of the general aptitude portion of the Graduate Record Examination.
  • TOEFL score of 97

Instructions
There are additional items which need to be included with the application.
Once an applicant has submitted the downloadable application, it is the applicant's responsibility to complete the application process by submitting the following required items directly to the FSU HPS Office by mail or email.

  1. personal statement (250-450 words)
  2. A writing sample of a student paper or equivalent (e.g. laboratory report) of at least 1200 words in length but no more than 8000 words.
  3. undergraduate and graduate transcripts (unofficial is acceptable)
  4. GRE scores (unofficial is acceptable)
  5. CV or resume
  6. Three (3) letters of recommendation, preferably from university professors who are familiar with your academic work (official, must be sent directly from writer to program office).
